Injury update: who’s in at leftback?

Imo Obot was sent off in the closing stages of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Rahimo, meaning the leftback will be unavailable for the Champions League first round tie against Al Merrikh.

That has left our backroom staff with the task of getting the other left backs, who were ruled out of the Rahimo tie, in shape for our trip to Omdurman in a fortnight.

Here is an update on the conditions of the players that could be in contention for that leftback position against Merrikh on the 23rd.

EMMANUEL AMPIAH

Having suffered a hamstring injury that ruled him out of our first two games of the season, Ampiah is back on his feet but trained separately from the rest of the group as his journey to full fitness continues.

JOHNSON UMAH

The young defender showed promise in preseason but has been hampered by a groin problem. He has however returned to the training ground, albeit not with the rest of the squad.

DANIEL DARKWAH

After being ruled out of the Rahimo tie with an illness, the Ghanaian leftback has returned to full training and looks the most likely to get the shirt in Omdurman.
