Match report: Enyimba outclass Ahudiya FC to win Abia State FA Cup
Enyimba retained the Abia State FA Cup with a comfortable 4-1 win in the final against Ahudiya Nnem FC at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday evening.
Emeka Obioma and Ikenna Cooper scored between Moses Omoduemuke’s brace as the People’s Elephant took no prisoners against their opponents who already showed giant-killing tendencies on their way to the final.
After ousting Enyimba B 3-0 in the quarterfinal, Ahudiya produced a major ‘cupset’ to seal qualification for this year’s Federation Cup, eliminating NPFL side Abia Warriors in the semis.
The highly-rated non-league side could not crown their storied run with a trophy, though, as they were outclassed by an Enyimba side that left nothing to chance.
Finidi George named a strong side that included included NPFL’s leading scorer, Emeka Obioma, but the People’s Elephant were made to wait until the final stages of the first half to breakthrough, Omoduemuke heading into the net from Obioma’s cross.
Obioma headed in the second eight minutes after the restart following Uwana Asuquo’s precise cross, and Cooper made it three few minutes later with a composed finish from the edge of the box.
Ahudiya capitalised on a defensive giveaway to net a consolation, but Omoduemuke made sure Enyimba regained their three-goal margin with a brilliant curler late on.
