Match report: Niger Tornadoes 2-1 Enyimba

Enyimba suffered a 1-2 loss against Niger Tornadoes at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday evening.

Emeka Obioma scored to cancel Munir Idris’s opener but Musa Wakili’s penalty at the end of the first half ensured victory for the hosts.

In a game with significant ramifications for the sides, the hosts were quicker off the block, creating the early chances.

Segun Alebiosu was set free in the box but shot over the top from five yards, before being denied by Djeri Bassa in a one-on-one situation.

Djeri Bassa came out tops again in another one-on-one situation, spreading himself wide to deny Munir Idris, but the rebound was returned to Idris who volleyed home to put the hosts in the lead.

That lead didn’t last long, though, as Samuel Stone picked up a poor clearance to set up Emeka Obioma who required just a simple tap to restore parity.

The hosts turned on the heat again and struck the bar immediately after, before regaining the lead in the 45th minute when … neatly dispatched from the spot after Oluwatosin Adegbite was penalised for a rash challenge.

The second half carried same intensity and grit as the first but chances were few to come by as Tornadoes held strong for a significant win.
