We have to be more ruthless – Fatai Osho
Enyimba’s gaffer Fatai Osho has decried his side’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal after the two-time African champions grabbed a 2-1 win over bottom side Adamawa United in Aba.
Goals from Victor Mbaoma and Farouk Mohammed lifted the Elephants to sixth place on the log and further compounded the woes of their visitors in a matchday 26 clash decided on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
However, while it was a routine win for the eight-time league champions, Coach Fatai Osho was far from impressed with his team’s performance.
By their standards, the People’s Elephants have somewhat not gone past first gear since the start of the season, failing to score more than two goals in any game in all competitions. Enyimba have scored 24 goals so far in the league, a tally that places them 12th best in terms of goals scored.
In his post match reaction to the club’s media Fatai Osho revealed that his team has got to be more clinical.
“Three points is good for us but the performance isn’t what we expected. We started very well, in the first 20 to 30 minutes we should have been three to four goals up. It’s more like a recurring decimal now, we keep wasting these opportunities. I tried as much as possible to encourage these boys, to be ruthless in front of goal. The name of the game is scoring goals. If you are creating these chances, you have got to take it. It was a below par performance. It’s just unacceptable.”
Enyimba’s next game is an away fixture against Katsina United this weekend
