OGUNGA FIRES UP ENYIMBA TO DOWN BAYELSA UNITED AGAIN

Goalkeeper Kelvin Ogunga says Enyimba are fired up for victory ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 24 encounter against his former side Bayelsa United in Aba on Sunday.

Smarting from an impressive 1-1 draw against hosts and second-placed Nasarawa United in Lafia on Wednesday, the People’s Elephant go into Sunday’s clash in a confident mood, having already beaten the Yenagoa-based side 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

Speaking to Enyimbafc.net, the shotstopper said the result in Lafia has given the 2-time African champions the confidence that they can beat Bayelsa United in Aba.

“After the draw in Lafia, we are motivated by that point because it wasn’t easy considering the distance and the strength of the opposition,” he said. “So, we thank God for that point.

“And come here (Aba ) this Sunday, we are playing against Bayelsa United, and we’re believing we are going to get the maximum points by God’s grace. I believe my squad; we are going to get it right. I have full confidence that we’ll win.

“This is my former side. We went to Yenagoa and defeated them 2-0. They are coming to Aba for the return leg, and we believe we’re going to win against them again.”

Ogunga equally called on the teeming fans of Enyimba to remain unflinching in their support of the Club despite some inconsistent results lately.

He said: “We are calling on the fans to continue standing by us. It wasn’t easy this period; we were dropping points at home, but by God’s grace, we have bounced back and we are going to make it up to the fans.”
