“We’re ready for battle against Rivers United” – Abiodun Joseph rallies Enyimba faithful

As anticipation reaches fever pitch in Aba, electric winger, Joseph Abiodun, has sent a passionate rallying cry to the club’s teeming supporters ahead of Sunday’s explosive NPFL Matchday 7 clash with eternal rivals, Rivers United, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

With the People’s Elephant and the Pride of Rivers both unbeaten so far this season, the encounter is already tagged a “Southern Derby of Fire”, and Abiodun believes the fans’ presence could tilt the balance in Enyimba’s favour.

“We know Sunday won’t be easy, but we’re fully prepared to grab all three points,” Abiodun told Enyimba Media with steely confidence.

“Our fans have been incredible, and I want to urge them to come out in full force. Their energy pushes us to give everything for the badge.”

The pacy forward, who has already netted twice this season, promised more goals and relentless hunger as Enyimba chase a return to continental football glory.

“My dream is to score more goals and help the club reclaim our place among Africa’s best. We’re challenging seriously for the league this season, and I must thank the management for their support and belief.”

Sunday’s tie promises fireworks, as both sides lock horns for the 23rd time — Enyimba holding the edge with 12 wins to Rivers United’s 9, while 7 have ended in stalemates.

However, the People’s Elephant will be without Bright Emmanuel and Mujeeb Odufeso, both sidelined through injuries picked up in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Ikorodu City in Lagos.

A win on home turf would not only restore Enyimba’s pride but could also fire them back to the summit of the NPFL table, tightening their grip on the title race and sending a statement across the league.

As the Nigerian giants brace for this heated encounter, one thing is certain — Abiodun and his teammates are ready to roar, and the Enyimba fortress is set to erupt.
