Enyimba’s goal analysis after ten matches
Averaging one goal per game might not reflect the best attacking statistic for Enyimba at the moment, but one stat that certainly impresses is the number of squad members that have shared in the goals for the People’s Elephant this term.
When Imo Obot tapped in Dayo Ojo’s cross for what turned out to be the winning goal in Monday’s NPFL fixture against Adamawa United, the leftback became Enyimba’s seventh different scorer this season.
With ten goals scored in ten matches so far, Only Victor Mbaoma (3) and Anayo Iwuala (2) have scored more than once for the People’s Elephant this term.
Austin Oladapo, Samad Kadiri, Nabil Yarou and Orok Gabriel are the other players to have found the net for the current NPFL champions.
Head coach, Fatai Osho is pleased that the wide distribution of scorers so far is an indication the team has moved beyond one that is dependent on just one particular player.
“If that’s what is happening in the team, then it is quite impressive,’ the gaffer remarked.
“It shows that if there’s a particular player that the opponents are targeting, another player can pop up and score the goals for us and that is good. It shows that any player can take responsibility at any point in time.
“At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter who gets the goal. What matters is that we score goals and win matches.”
