Enyimba 1 – 0 Dakkada: Omoyele’s Early strike seals Enyimba’s win
Tosin Omoyele marked his return to the Enyimba starting XI with a match-winning contribution as the People’s Elephant beat Dakkada FC 1-0 at the Enyimba Stadium on Monday.
The number 11 has been used in a substitute role in the last five fixtures, but was picked ahead of Mbaoma in Monday’s clash and took little time to leave his mark.
After being played through by Okorom, Omoyele kept his nerves to place his ball past Olawale Oremade to put the Nigerian Champions in front with only two minutes on the clock.
Enyimba followed the promising start with a dominant spell that saw the front three of Omoyele, Samson Obi and debutante Frank Esobe heavily involved, but it was Austin Oladapo that came close before Omoyele headed wide moments later.
The visitors eventually found their way into the game and Isaac George hit the net in the half’s closing stages, but was ruled out for offside.
Fatai Osho rang his changes early in the second half, injecting the trio of Dare Olatunji, Philip Ozor and Orok Gabriel but despite substantial from the substitutes, Enyimba remained miles from their free-flowing best as the game dropped down to pedestrian pace.
The chance to grab the second fell on the laps of Orok when Olatunji’s through ball set him free in the box, but the forward shot straight at Oremade from point blank range.
Omoyele had the chance to grab his second brace at the death but looked indecisive after benefitting from Oremade’s error.
The result has pushed Enyimba within three points of the summit, with Fatai Osho’s men having played three less than the rest of the pack.
