It’s strange playing without fans – Olatunji
Dare Olatunji knows exactly how it is to play in an empty stadium and hopes that fans will be permitted to return to match venues before long.
The 2020/21 season is set to begin with matches being played behind closed doors as the world continues to contain the Covid-19 Pandemic.
The Nigeria government last month announced that non-contact sports could return but with strict compliance to Covid-19 protocols, which includes keeping fans away from the grounds.
Already, CAF Champions League matches have proceeded behind closed doors, and Olatunji, who is set to represent us in both competitions hopes that will change as soon as possible.
“I have played behind closed doors before (against Rahimo FC) and I know how it feels. It is not funny.
“I remember the game against Rahimo, even though we won 5-0, it was like something was missing.
“Football is all about the fans, so when they are not their you will feel it. I have watched the European leagues played without fan and it looks strange.
“I know health and safety must come first, but still I can’t wait for the fans to return.”
