“Nothing is impossible”: Eguma stays upbeat despite tough run
Head coach Stanley Eguma says he is very confident Enyimba will secure a continental ticket at the end of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign, despite the team’s poor run of results.
The 2-time African champions are without a win in their last 5 matches, losing 3 and drawing twice. On Thursday, the People’s Elephant forced Heartland to a 1-1 in Aba.
That result, coupled with outcomes of other Match Day 22 encounters decided over the weekend, ensured Enyimba are now placed 11th on the NPFL standings, with 28 points from 20 matches.
Speaking to www.enyimbafc.net, the veteran gaffer stated that he has the experience to turn things around, adding that Enyimba can also make it to the continent through the President Federation Cup route.
“As far as I am concerned, nothing is impossible,” the former Heartland gaffer said. “Of Course, you know I have never given up at any time as a coach. I’ve always made it either first, second or third. I’ve always been there in the NPFL. Enyimba cannot be an exception.
“I’m still working, I just joined the team, and I think with a few amendments, with 18 games to play, I’m quite sure that we can achieve that. We can get a continental ticket, it is possible.
“However, we also have another opportunity in the President Federation Cup. It is another opportunity which we are going to give our best. We’ll give our best to ensure that we pick a ticket from there too.
“So, the chances of going back to the continent are still bright for us.”
The record 9–time NPFL champions, with a game in hand, face Lobi Stars in Bauchi on Monday in a Match Day 22 clash.
