The Elephant is on the march again!

The past 10 days have been thrilling. Three games in 10 days, nine points at stake and we took seven. A fan screamed “Enyimba is back” and we agree. The victory against Elkanemi was not easy but we showed character to cross the line.

Like little pieces of a jigsaw puzzle are placed together to make meaning, our boys are gradually getting into their strides and the cohesion in the team is becoming visible.

It was a new attack, one comprising Christian Nnaji who worked tirelessly all evening, Mujeeb Odufeso and Joseph Atule who is now in his second season with us. Let us spare a moment for that brilliant goal from Atule. Surely, we cannot talk about the goal without that classic defense splitting pass from Odufeso who worked hard across the attacking lines on the evening. Atule who has been in fine form lately made a quick decision and picked his spot at the top left of Kolawale Oladipo’s net.

In midfield, we had good moments and the trio of Kalu Nweke, Ufere Chinedu and Isah Mohammed moved the ball so well and created chances, from which we would have increased the tally. Ufere Chinedu later showed how versatile he is when he moved to the right back position after Obichere Odinaka could not continue. Gozie Umeh Umeh was brought in to fill the space Ufere left in midfield.

It was good to see Imoh Obot again, though on the bench. After that injury against Rivers United, the fans had fears about the left back and thankfully, he is back. Hopefully we will have a full squad soon, with Uwana Asuquo and Eze Ekwutoziam back while we hope Ihemekwele recovers on time too. In Obot’s stead, new left back, Solomon Ogherahwe has been doing a good job and has overcome his early jitters to own the left flank, forming a fine understanding with Joseph Atule who played Justin front of him.

Next for us is that crucial game against Ikorodu City in Lagos; a City which we will not forget when we write our history. It is a place we can go to continue our good run. The boys are obviously in high spirits and their quest for a continental ticket is on course.
