Abel makes a scoring debut as Enyimba skip past Wikki

James Abel marked his Enyimba debut with a goal that opened the way for the People’s Elephant to a 2-0 win against Wikki Tourists at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday evening.

The hard centreback was a surprise inclusion in Finidi George’s team to start against Wikki, having only been limited to the bench since his arrival at the beginning of the season.

And the 24-years-old made the most of his chance in the 37th minute, striking home from choose range after a well-worked corner kick was dropped in his path by Sadiq Abubakar.

Enyimba secured the lead four minutes into the second half when Victor Mbaoma tapped into the roof following a determined run and delivery by Orok Gabriel.

Substitutes Samuel Kalu and Ekene Awazie came close as Enyimba pushed to make it a demolition, while Chigozie Obasi had his long-range freekick pushed against the crossbar by the Wikki Tourists goalkeeper.
