Adeleke picks lessons from Insurance draw as Sunshine come knocking
Adekunle Adeleke is not doing so long on the 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance on Wednesday, but believes key lessons must be learnt from the fixture.
Enyimba are up against Sunshine Stars on day 4 of the NPFL Championship Playoffs, and Adeleke is aware that only a win will keep the team in good stead for their final game of the tournament.
“It was a difficult game (against Insurance). We knew the importance of the game so we wanted to win. We put in our best which everyone could see that we did our best, but unfortunately it wasn’t just our day.
“We didn’t take our chances, maybe if we took our chances it would have been a different story. Also, we have to give it to them. They are a good side also and we know they’ve not lost a game this season. But that game is gone and I believe we will learn from it and move ahead from here.
“We have two games to go, Sunshine and Rivers United; but you know every game is different and we are taking them one after the other. Three (matches) are gone and we have two left. We know what Sunshine can do. We have watched them and we have been preparing for them.”
“We are going to approach the game just same way as we approach every other game – to win. We are hopeful that we will get the victory because that is what will carry us to the next game against Rivers United.
“At this point we know that we must give everything. We are not going to throw in the towel because we want our effort to count. We have faith in ourselves and we believe very strongly that we stand a good chance.”
