Reuben Bala has stressed the importance of starting on a high as he looks to improve his goal return in the coming season.
Last year,, Bala endured a torrid start to his Enyimba career and hardly hit the ground running until the championship playoffs where he shone with three goals in as many matches.
The next season would turn out better for the forward as he netted twice against Rahimo FC at the early stages of the season, but he was later hampered by injuries as well as the interruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With another season now almost set to commence, Bala is setting his sight on starting strongly in order to better his personal scoring records.
“When I first arrived here, it took me a while to adapt to the city and to the style of play. It was so difficult for me that I couldn’t make match squads; but as time went on I settled in and things began to move smoothly.
“As an attacker, you are expected to score goals, that’s what the team wants you to do so I want to improve on myself and score goals more often.
“If I can start the season well and maintain it throughout, I’m sure I will be up there. I just want to be better than I was last season.”
