CAFCC draws: How much do you know about our opponents?

The draw for the 2020/2021 CAF Confederation Cup group stage was revealed Monday in a draw ceremony held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo.

Interesting match ups everywhere and rekindling of rivalries. Enyimba FC has been drawn in Group A alongside South Africa side Orlando Pirates, Algerian club Entente de Setif, and Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi.

How much do you know about our opponents?

Entente de Setif

Entente de Sétif, commonly referred to as ES Sétif is an Algerian club currently playing in the Algeria Ligue 1.

Founded in 1958 and nicknamed ‘The Black Eagles,” ES Setif are two-time champions of the CAF champions league (1988 & 2014).

ES Setif finished third in Ligue 1 last season and beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 on aggregate in the play-off round to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Orlando Pirates FC

Orlando Pirates Football Club is a South African professional football club based in the city of Johannesburg and plays in the top-tier system of Football in South Africa,the Premier Soccer League.

Founded in 1937 and nicknamed “The Sea Robbers,” Orlando Pirates FC are one-time winners of the CAF Champions League (1995) and were runners up in the 2015 edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Orlando Pirates finished third in the PSL last season and did beat Jwaneng Galaxy 4-0 on aggregate in the play-off round to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ahly Benghazi

Al Ahly Benghazi is a Libyan professional football club based in the city of Benghazi and plays in the Libyan Premier League.

Founded in 1947, Ahly Benghazi will be making a second appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup after a first round exit in 2009.

Ahly Benghazi progressed to the group stage after beating Motema Pembe 8-7 on penalties after it ended 2-2 on aggregate over two legs.

Enyimba will kickstart their group stage campaign with a home tie against Al Ahly Benghazi on March 10, 2021.
