Daga: We are poised for victory against Plateau United
Midfield gem Daniel Daga says his side have put behind them the disappointment of conceding the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title to Rangers, and are now poised to beat Plateau United in Aba on Sunday in their final game of the campaign.
A win against the Peace Boys will ensure the People’s Elephant finish, at least, 3rd on the log, and guarantee CAF Confederation Cup football in Aba next season.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the 17-year-old Flying Eagles star, stated that the spirit in camp is positive, but admitted he was seriously affected by his side’s inability to retain the NPFL crown.
“Sincerely, it affected me because coming to Enyimba, I wanted to win the league back-to-back and keep the history here,” he said of missing out of the NPFL title. “But unfortunately, we lost the league. So, it affected me.
“But talking about Sunday’s game (against Plateau United), we are going to win it. We are doing everything possible to ensure we win on Sunday.
“Our mindset is positive. We are 100% confident of victory in the match on Sunday because we really need the win to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We are ready, and the boys are positive. Our mentality is good. We are good to go anyway. On Sunday, we’ll get the job done.”
An unlikely win for Katsina United at Remo Stars on the final day of the season will see Enyimba finish second and play in the CAF Champions League with victory against Plateau United on Sunday.
