Dimgba eyes more glory in Enyimba return
Forward Stanley Dimgba says he wants ‘to achieve more’ in his second spell at Enyimba.
The dazzling right-winger was a key part of the Enyimba side that won the 2019 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title before joining South African outfit Stellenbosch in 2020.
After spending two seasons at Stellenbosch, the 32-year-old veteran has had stints at Libyan side Darnes SC, Sheikh Jamal of Bangladesh and Abia Warriors before rejoining the People’s Elephant this season.
Speaking to Enyimbafc.net, Dimgba stated clearly that his reason for rejoining the 2-time African champions is to help the club win more league titles and return to continental football.
“Definitely, I want to achieve more,” he said, when asked why he rejoined Enyimba.
“I have been here before, won the league and played in continental matches. So, that’s my aim of coming back – to make sure that we win the league and continue in the continent.”
The former Kwara United and Sunshine Stars winger believes Enyimba have the quality to triumph in the NPFL despite the huge presence of young and new players in the team.
“Football is not about young or old players,” he said. “We have both young and experienced players in the team, and coming together, we will gel.
“This is just seven Match Days into the season. With time, I know we’ll blend properly and everything will be good. I’m confident we can deliver the NPFL tittle at the end of the season.”
With Sunday’s goalless draw against Rivers United in Aba, Enyimba have now gone seven games unbeaten in the current campaign.
Asked how long he thinks the unbeaten streak will last, Dimgba said: “I cannot say, but I know that we will extend the unbeaten run because we have the spirit and determination to move forward. We are playing Kun Khalifat this weekend, and I know that we are not going to lose that match.
“So, we are preparing with the aim of even winning away from home to keep the unbeaten run alive.”
The record 9-time NPFL champions are currently placed 2nd on the log, with 13 points from 7 matches, just 3pts behind leaders Nasarawa United.
