Finidi hails Eriugo on his ‘impressive’ full debut performance
Finidi George was full of praises for youngster Adiele Eriugo who was handed his first ever top flight start in Sunday’s 2-1 win against Plateau United.
The dangling forward, who only got promoted from the B team this season, featured for sixty-eight minutes and contributed significantly as Enyimba raced to a two-goal lead against United.
Speaking on the performance of the striker, Finidi began by explaining his decision to hand him a starting place:
“I think Adiele has been doing well in training and in friendly matches. He has eyes for goals, we were just introducing him gradually and I felt we needed someone to hold onto the ball and help us in midfield.
“For a young man like that, he has the energy to help in the midfield and in attack; that was why I chose him and I think he did so well with his performance. He has to build on that and I think today’s match will give him that confidence to move on.”
