Match Preview: Enyimba vs Pyramids

We can, it is possible,” are the exact words of wing wizard Anayo Iwuala as Enyimba attempts one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday in Aba.

The Elephants trail Egyptian side Pyramids FC after a 4-1 defeat in the first leg of the quarterfinals in Cairo. Osho’s men need to overturn the first leg deficit to qualify for the semis and will have the chance to do so when they host Pyramids.

TEAM NEWS

A big boost for the Elephants is the return of talisman Anayo Iwuala to the squad after serving a one match suspension due to accumulated yellow cards. Defender Nabil Yarou is in for the tie as well after missing the first leg because of passport issues.

However, Imo obot,  Stanley Okorom, Samson Obi, and Sadiq Abubakar remain sidelined due to injuries.

The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Pyramids slightly hold the advantage after beating Enyimba 4-1 in their first ever meeting on May 16 in the first leg of the quarterfinals in Cairo.

ANAYO IWUALA’S PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS
Voice of Anayo Iwuala

We just have to put our heads together, work as a team with one mind, its football and I believe anything is possible. We have to get the three goals, we can and it’s possible and I believe come Sunday we will get the three goals by his grace.

No Nigerian side has ever won the CAF Confederation Cup and Enyimba will seek to change the narrative this weekend. Sunday’s game in Aba is billed for 2pm local time.
