Match report: Katsina United 1-0 Enyimba

Taofeek Ahmed scored the only goal as Enyimba suffered a slip against Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.

A gritty contest that easily passes for a game of two halves saw the visitors control the first period but fail to make their dominance count.

Cyril Olisema could not level his volley as Samuel Kalu’s pass created chance for the midfielder inside the box, while Sadiq Abubakar directed a free header wide from just five yards.

Enyimba’s biggest chance came ten minutes to the break when club’s top scorer Victor Mbaoma broke through in a swift counter attack, but was prevented by Stanley Nwabali’s save.

The restart brought about a momentum switch and Djeri Bassa was called to immediate action, spreading out to save in a one-on-one situation.

The hosts however won it with their next attack, Ahmed Taofeek directing a low drive into the bottom right five minutes into the second half to decide the fixture.
