WE BELIEVE IN YOUTHS AT ENYIMBA – YEMA

Assistant coach Yemi Olarenwaju fondly known as Coach Yema has stated categorically that Enyimba have faith in youngsters, who have so far covered themselves in glory this season.

Talented but relatively inexperienced youngsters like Daniel Daga and Eriugo Adiele have impressed so far, while Chibueze Izuogu, Itoro Promise and Chidiebere Nnachi, who are all playing professionally for the first time this season, have equally given a good account of themselves in the colours of Enyimba.

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba will move to second place on the standings with victory over Remo Stars in a rescheduled match in Aba on Wednesday.

Speaking after the 2-time African champions secured an impressive 1-0 away win against Heartland at the weekend, coach Yema, however, played down his team’s chances of retaining the NPFL crown this season.

“We believe in youths,” he said. “We’ve always been telling the boys that ‘it is not really about age; it’s about what you have in your head and the determination to translate what we ask you to translate’ because at Enyimba we play strictly to information and tactics.

“If they can interpret the tactics and play the way we want them to play, why can’t they play? The few young ones have been doing well for themselves and we are happy with their progress.

“We want to remain focused. We know we are not the favourites for the league, anyway because we are battling a lot of other teams. But we want to compete as defending champions. At the end of the season, we’ll see where we will end up.”
