Enyimba win historic 9th league title

Enyimba were crowned champions of the 2022/2023 NPFL season on Sunday night in Lagos after emerging champions of the Super Six Play-offs.

A 1-1 draw with Rivers United saw the club finish on top of the championship table with 9 points, edging Remo Stars and United with superior goal difference.

Going into Sunday’s final round of matches, Finidi George’s men needed only a point to increase their haul of league trophies and they did just that with a gritty performance to deny Rivers United a chance at retaining the title.

Enyimba are considered the most successful football club in Nigeria, winning more titles than any other and Sunday’s triumph reinforces their position as Nigeria’s football powerhouse.
