I fulfilled my childhood dream: Alalibo recounts debut reverie
Centreback Somiari Alalibo says he is happy to fulfill his childhood dream after making his first appearance for Enyimba in Sunday’s NPFL fixture against Rangers International.
Alalibo, who joined the Elephants from Dakkada FC at the beginning of the season, made his debut after enduring a torrid time on the sideline with injuries since making the move across cities.
The ball playing centre-back couldn’t hide his excitement while speaking with the club’s media, stating that doning the blue of Enyimba was a dream come true.
“I feel fulfilled because it is everybody’s dream to play for Enyimba, Enyimba is a big team. I gave my best but by my standards I know I’m going to get better.”
Alalibo had somewhat of a dent on his debut, conceding two penalties from handball situations, but the centre-back has dusted off the idea of dwelling on that, and believes he can become a mainstay for the club.
“Hopefully, I’m beginning to get myself, with time I’m going to break in fully, it is a gradual process. Initially I stayed for about two months without playing, I recovered, then suffered an ankle injury, so I’m getting myself gradually.”
While there is a big task in front of Alalibo to follow in the footsteps of teammate Imoh Obot who joined from Dakkada and has become a major hit at Enyimba, there is nothing comparable to fulfilling a childhood dream and living the life.
