Mbaoma, Farouk on the goals as Enyimba skip past Lobi Stars

Victor Mbaoma and Farouk Mohammed were the scorers as Enyimba overcame Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Enyimba Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Mbaoma justified his inclusion in the starting list early in the matchday sixteen rescheduled fixture when he was on hand to tuck Reuben Bala’s delivery into the bottom right, before Farouk added another with his second goal for the club.

The hosts looked undeterred despite the early lead, and continued to boss play against a difficult to break down opponent.

Samad Kadiri was released on the left and was only kept out by Stanley Nwabali’s brilliance, while Ozor hesitated inside the box as another chance flew by.

Enyimba however got their second at the end of the half, Farouk Mohammed latching home a perfect kick after Bala was hacked down in the box.

But the hosts’ dominance and advantage was threatened five minutes into the second half when Ossy Martins converted from the spot for Lobi Stars after Farouk was penalised for ball handling.

Enyimba could have restored their two-goal lead shortly after with Samad Kadiri and Philip Ozor coming close in quick succession.

Mbaoma was set up by Stanley Nwabali after a brilliant pass by Cyril Olisema, before the forward again failed to make the best of Orok’s set up in the closing stages.
