Obasi Makes Thrilling Return To Old Stomping Ground In Lafia
Chigozie Obasi says he is thrilled by the prospect of facing his former side Nasarawa United in Lafia on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old right-back joined the 2-time African champions from the Lafia-based side before the start of the current campaign, and has been listed in the squad to battle Bala Nikyu’s men in the NPFL week 10 at his old stomping ground.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the former Golden Eaglets star said he is happy to return to Lafia, where he enjoyed great support and love from the fans.
“It is a great opportunity for me to come and play against them this season,” the 2013 U-17 World Cup winner told www.enyimbafc.net.
“I really loved the team before I left. Nice people, nice supporters, they are good, but I’m happy to come and play here this season. I’m very happy.”
Having had a short spell at Nasarawa United, Obasi believes he knows a thing or two that will help the People’s Elephant overcome the Solid Miners when both sides clash on Wednesday.
“For me, I know how Nasarawa United plays – the formation, the pattern and everything,” he disclosed. “It is not a threat for Enyimba. Tomorrow, we are good to go with them.
“We are not afraid of Nasarawa United at all because I know how they play and I am going to give my colleagues information that will help us win the game tomorrow.”
