Team news: update on Eze, Akanni, Adegbite
Eze Ekwutoziam suffered a groin injury against Katsina United at the Naija Super 8 in July, but has recovered in time to participate fully in the team’s preseason; and has made the squad for the season’s opener against Al Ahly Benghazi.
Elijah Akanni recovered from the groin strain that kept him out of the concluding part of last season, but suffered a fresh injury to his groin in preseason and has been ruled out for “a few weeks”.
Pascal Eze did not participate in the team’s preseason activities with a thigh injury and has not made the trip to Benghazi.
Tosin Adegbite remains sidelined after suffering an ACL injury last year. The Nigerian youth international has, however, continued to inch closer to his return and is currently undergoing physiotherapy.
MacBen Otika has made progressive strides on his way to recovery but has yet to return to full training with the rest of the squad. The defender is expected to continue his rehabilitation as he works towards his comeback.
