“The players know what is at stake”
Eight-time league champions Enyimba FC will be sweating under the sultry heat of Kaduna when they face Kano Pillars on matchday 4 of the NPFL, a day after New Year celebration.
Finidi George’s side have recorded mixed results at the start of the campaign with the opening three fixtures against top oppositions, Abia Warriors, Rangers, and Rivers United. While the Elephants recorded back to back wins in their first two games, they lost at home against Rivers United in mid-week, bringing an end to their five games winning streak in all competition.
Sunday’s fixture pits Enyimba against Kano Pillars, and reacting ahead of the game after his side’s first loss under his watch, Finidi George speaking exclusively to Enyimbafc.net revealed that his boys are in Kaduna to redeem themselves.
“After a frustrating game against Rivers United, we are here in Kaduna to play Kano Pillars, the players know what is at stake, they want to do well, and they want to make sure that we get a good result, we will see how the outcome will be. I think the boys are focused and mentally I know they are ready for this game and I think they will do their best.”
On the injury front and general update on the team, Finidi said the team will be missing a few key players for various reasons.
“Orok is sick, Samuel Kalu is not available today, but he is definitely going to come in; definitely there will be some form of rotation.”
Long term absentees, Daniel Darkwah, Imoh Obot, Farouk Mohammed, and Jean Marie Guera will still remain on the sidelines ahead of the Pillars Clash.
Kano Pillars have picked up just a point in three league games so far this season, and will host Enyimba at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna by 4pm in the headline fixture of matchday 4.
