The Stone Code: “Go hard or you stay home!”

Samuel Stone has been speaking tough after making his full Enyimba debut in the 2-1 win against Remo Stars on Wednesday.

The former Jigawa Golden Stars hitman put up a man-of-the-match performance, providing an assist for Ekene Awazie’s winning goal against Gbenga Ogunbote’s side.

Stone had hitherto made several cameo appearances for the People’s Elephant, a situation he was never satisfied with.

He revealed he had to walk to the Enyimba gaffer Finidi George and challenged the former Ajax star to give him a starting role, which he promised to justify.

And after his impressive displays on his full debut on Wednesday, the energetic forward expressed relief, stating he is at Enyimba to prove his worth.

“I was not happy for not having a playing time, because there is no good player that will come to a team and not playing, and feel relaxed” he told www.enyimbafc.net. “That means it shows you came for the money and definitely you’re not going to last in the team, because if they don’t see your effort, you have to go for another person to come and take over that job.

“You go hard or you stay home, that’s my slogan. For me, not playing all those time, I was not happy. I gave the coach some body languages by working extra hard for him to know I wanted to play.

“I know my standard in the league, so coming to Enyimba and not proving myself, I didn’t feel good about it. I never felt good when I was coming in for two minutes, five minutes. I was not happy about myself.

“I met the coach and we talked and I said ‘start me in a game and I will prove you wrong. I just need to start a game and I will prove you wrong’.

“I was happy everything went as planned because I was ready. For you to go out to talk to a coach with that confidence, you have to be ready.”
