In form Obioma fires Enyimba back to victory

Emeka Obioma grabbed his second brace in as many home games as Enyimba downed El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday evening.

The forward took his season’s tally to four as The People’s Elephant sealed off the game with an emphatic first half performance.

Even before finding the net, Obioma showed his readiness to go, curling an effort against the upright after only two minutes before having his attempt cleared off the line minutes later.

His opener arrived just after the midpoint of the half, when he received Sadi Abubakar’s pass and fired on the turn into the left corner to spread relief at the Enyimba Stadium.

He completed his job on halftime mark, heading in from close range after being set up by the lively Ademola Adebambo.

Adebambo came close to scoring himself – minutes into the restart – but his toed attempt bounced off the crossbar, while Emeka Obioma’s chance of getting his hat trick was thwarted by a faulty contact as he volleyed wide from five yards.

Substitute Ekene Awazie also got in on the action, dribbling through before hitting the side-netting with what easily could have been Enyimba’s third.
