Match report: Dakkada 2-0 Enyimba
Enyimba paid the ultimate price for moments of sloppy defending as Dakkada FC capitalised to win 2-0 in Uyo.
Edidiong Ezekiel gave Dakkada an early lead and won a penalty late in the first half for Aniekan Ekpe to double from the spot.
Ezekiel’s pace and directness looked hard to tame from the get-go, and the young forward reaped his reward after just six minutes when he pinned a low drive into John Noble’s right corner after finding space in the box.
Enyimba made no bones of their intention of getting back level right after, weaving some interesting patterns but failing, somehow, to make a breakthrough.
Ekene Awazie skied his strike from inside the box while Victor Mbaoma, Cyril Olisema and Philip Ozor also threatened as the visitors surged relentlessly.
However, it was the hosts that found the net again, against the run of play, with captain Aniekan Ekpe converting from the penalty spot six minutes to the interval after Adekunle Adeleke’s foul on Ezekiel inside the box.
Enyimba continued to boss proceedings at the restart, confining their opponents to defensive duties, yet finding clear cut chances had to come by.
Samuel Stone miscued Bilal Yakubu’s cross while Mbaoma could not stretch to Imo Obot’s low cross that sped across the face of goal.
Imo Obot provided more attacking threats with an impressive run down the right, but his final ball ended up in the side-netting.
