“NPFL win has wiped off my tears” – Nonso Nzediegwu

Nonso Nzediegwu sees Enyimba’s title win as the perfect consolation for the many travails he had suffered in his career.

Nzediegwu joined Enyimba at the beginning of the 2022/23 season and helped the former African champions to a historic 9th domestic league crown.

The winger, who had on two occasions been a part of relegated teams, recounts that the prospects of winning the league was his biggest motivation for joining the People’s Elephant.

“Like every footballer, it was always my dream to be a champion, and that was why I joined Enyimba in the first place. I knew that with Enyimba, I would be able to achieve that dream.

“I remember the day I came to sign for Enyimba, I promised the chairman that I was coming to win the league and I am very happy that it has happened.

“Winning the league has really made me happy and I believe that God has answered my prayers because I have endured a lot of pains in my career. When I was at FC Ifeanyi Uba, we got relegated. I moved to Heartland and the team also got relegated.

“Those experiences were very painful for me so I was just hoping for a different story. God has used this league to wipe away my tears. I am very happy that my story today is that I am a champion.”

You came to the biggest club.
You’ll also win the champions League or confederation cup if you stay put.
